Today is a day that comes around every year. It’s the beginning of summer for some, It’s when most pools open, and it’s a holiday weekend where most people get a 3 or 4 day weekend. But for me it is a day to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our Armed Forces.
I come from a military family, My father has been in the Army for 20+ years. Two of my four brothers are currently serving in the Army (the other two are still school age). I myself was in the Air Force and my Husband is currently in the Marine Corps. So as you can see, I’ve spent my whole life around, near and even in, the military. Today is a day I thank God I still have my family members and I also ask him to watch over and protect those families who have lost their loved ones. It isn’t easy watching people leave for war knowing some might not return.
My family and I spent this day of gratitude watching my husband and his fellow Marines participate in a Veterans Day Memorial while we paid our respects to the fallen hero’s.
There is no way for us to ever thank those who have given all, but we can do our best to continue to build the dream of America that they gave their lives to protect. I admire all of our military members and the families that support them. We would be nothing without our Hero’s.
This Day is for them.
Thank You to all of those who gave everything and asked for nothing.
